Water is the Wonder Medicine You Can’t Live Without!

Without a regular supply of it, you can get headaches and joint problems. What is “it”? It’s the latest wonder medicine—pure water! Surveys show most of us don’t drink enough water. You are not just what you eat…but what you drink too.

Water is the basis of all life, including your body. The muscles that move your body are 75% water; blood that transport nutrients is 82% water; lungs that provide your body’s oxygen are 90%; your brain is 76%, even your bones are 25% water.

When you don’t drink enough pure water the results can be a subtle type of dehydration. Just think what happens to your indoor plants when you don’t water them. Not a pretty sight!

Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D., an internationally renowned researcher, author and advocate of the natural healing power of water has been promoting The Water Cure since the 1980s. His website www.thewatercure.com is very informative and has many scientific documents and interviews that support the value of pure water as vital to one’s health vs. taking drugs.

According to Dr. B, if you are feeling thirsty your cells are already dehydrated.

This doctor reports even mild dehydration can cause decreased coordination, fatigue, dry skin, decreased urine output and blood pressure changes. He points out that stress, headache, back pain, allergies, asthma, high blood pressure and many degenerative health problems are the result of Unintentional Chronic Dehydration.

Watch your caffeine or alcohol intake as they tend to act as diuretics, removing water from your body through urination. How much water should you drink? Divide your body weight in half. That number is approximately how many ounces you should drink daily. If you are 160 pounds, divide by two and you need about 80 ounces of water each day; more if the weather is hot or dry or you have been working out and sweating.

Drinking pure water is an issue these days, particularly in foreign countries. The best source of specific information about the water quality in your area is your local water supplier. They are required to send their customer annual water quality reports. Currently there is a movement in Asheville to remove the fluoride in the Asheville city water (www.fluoridefreeasheville.org).

One of the easiest, least expensive ways for you to support your health is to include more water in your diet. So drink up!
